Product Notes:
- SpeedFactory Racing camshafts are designed and manufactured using new chill-cast blanks for superior wear characteristics and to eliminate any possible issues with post heat treatments etc.
- Upgraded valve springs are required.
- For optimal results camshaft must be degreed in with an adjustable cam gear.
- Special Note: An adjustable cam gear is necessary to achieve correct camshaft timing in a D16Y8 setup.
- Dyno tuning to achieve optimal results with your setup is highly recommended. Results will vary based on the quality and combination of parts used and tuning.
- Improperly installed camshafts can cause catastrophic damage.
- High performance camshafts put greater stress on valvetrain components which will cause higher wear rates.
- Make sure followers are in good condition, any scuffing or scoring will result in accelerated lobe and rocker wear.
- NEVER USE AN IMPACT GUN TO INSTALL THE CAM GEAR!!! Use a properly calibrated torque wrench and torque cam gear bolt to 23lb-ft. Use a small drop of removable thread locker like BLUE Loctite on the bolt.
Initial engine startup procedure after installation of your new camshaft is critical – the majority of all issues arise in this period and have to do with inadequate lubrication, improper valve lash, or the use of followers that are not in good condition.
- Make sure followers are in excellent condition, any scuffing or scoring will result in accelerated lobe and rocker wear
- Make sure the entire cam and followers have a liberal amount of quality assembly lube applied
- DO NOT let the engine start without first cranking for oil pressure if it is a new engine or just had an oil filter change
- Make sure valve lash has been set properly with the engine cold
- Use a quality engine oil with high levels of ZDDP
